This is a small grippy pad that can be used to hold a needle tightly.  Great for when your fingers are slipping on a needle, for pulling your needle when the thread is tight in the fabric/canvas or when going through multiple layers of fabric. 

We use them for needlepoint, but also useful for quilting, crafts and sewing leather, denim and heavyweight fabrics.
